Fall Showcase Night!
Thank you for attending our Fall Showcase Evening. The students did a fantastic job of sharing their learning and hopefully inspiring others to help make a difference.
Silent Auction Information
Your child will bring home their artwork on Monday, Oct. 19th. You will find the bid forms (if you bid) inside along with an information sheet of how to make your donations online to our Studio 3 water.org account. You can also use the linked image above.
Thank you for your support. The class goal is to raise $500.00 which will provide clean water (for life) to 20 people! They are already at $130.00 raised.
A special thank you to those that made sure each and every student had a bid. You know who you are and we greatly appreciate your generosity and kindness.
Goal: I can use quotation marks to pull out a direct quote from a text, without plagiarizing.
i.e. I like how you said, “The waste treatment facility was an amazing trip!”
i.e. In the text the author said, “___________________.”
Goals: 1. I can understand division as whole/part = part. 2. I can identify the various division symbols.
Math Fact Fluency
Congratulations to the class! They met their class goal last week. This week we will set a new goal which will include having ALL students master their addition/subtraction facts by Thanksgiving. At that point, we will move everyone to multiplication/division, regardless of whether they passed addition/subtraction.
It is absolutely critical that ALL students are able to fluency add/subtract/multiply/divide by the end of 3rd quarter (at the latest, by the end of the year).
We are unsure as to why the Raz-Kids app. is not consistently working. However, your child can use the website to login. They know how to do this by using the link from the “ELA” – “News and Research” tabs from our class site.
We are continuing to encourage families to have a parent check over their child’s homework before signing it. We will of course look over it but research shows that immediate feedback is much more meaningful than feedback after-the-fact. We are also hoping that the weekly homework gives you a better idea of not only what we are learning in class but also on how your child is performing.
This week we will be doing email orientation. You can view the district required presentation below. If you prefer your child not have their email account available, please email Ms. Bennett and Ms. Konrad by Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015. We plan to have accounts opened and in use by the end of the month.
United Way Week
The week of October 19-October 23 will be our annual United Way Campaign at EPiC! United Way improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.
More information on United Way can be found at http://www.unitedwaygkc.org/.
To help raise money for this great organization, we will have dress-up days each day next week. Students are encouraged to bring in the designated coin when they dress-up each day. Dress up days are:
- Monday- Pennies and Pep Rally- Wear your favorite sports team gear and bring in your pennies.
- Tuesday- Nickels and Nurses- Dress like a nurse or a doctor and bring in your nickels.
- Wednesday- Dimes and Decades- Wear clothes from your favorite decade and bring in those dimes.
- Thursday- Quarters and Cozy- Wear your comfy clothes and bring in quarters.
- Friday- We are EPiC! Wear your EPiC spirit wear and bring in any coin or dollar amount to donate to United Way.
