Clay County Courthouse Field Trip

We had an incredible experience on this trip to learn more about the judicial system!  We were not allowed to take in our phones so we do not have video/pics, but they did allow the students to take their iPads so you will want to ask your child to see their pictures and notes!  A special thank you to Judge Chamberlin as well as EPiC’s Blended Learning Coach, Susan Maynor, for helping set up this experience for our class!

Hour of Code

The entire district has several designated times throughout the year that every student spends time coding… all K-12 at the same time.  This past week we had one of those district hours.  Here are a few pics of our time coding!

PBL:  Geography

Students created books using their Book Creator app. to provide directions to guests at EPiC.  They were required to use Cardinal Directions (N, S, E, W), landmarks within the building, as well as images to help the guests find their location.  These will be posted to blogs the week of Feb. 29th!

We have also learned about coordinate grids and lines of latitude and longitude.

Observing, analyzing, and noticing components of various maps.

 ELA

Goal:  I can answer questions that do NOT have a “right there” answer.  These questions require me to use information from various parts of the text to form an answer.  (i.e. What is the main idea of the text?)

Goal cont.:  I can answer questions that have only 1 correct answer which can be found in the text (aka “right there”).

Math

Goal:  I can solve 2 digit x 1 digit multiplication problems, both in isolation and within word problems.

Students can use various methods to solve these problems.  We will teach them both the traditional algorithm as well as partial products.

Math Facts:  Reflex

10/50 passed

Each Monday on your child’s Math Menu you can see your child’s Reflex percentage and growth from the previous week.  It is our hope that your child would be close to 65-75% at this time to help enable them to reach 100% by the end of June.
