- Pokemon Cards have been a great way for many of the students to escape the extreme heat during recess. However, we ask that after next Friday (9th) they no longer come to school. They have done a great job with them but as the weather cools down we want them running and playing at recess. We shared this with them but they may need a reminder from home. Thanks!
- Water bottles are more than welcome at school each day, especially as the hot weather continues. Thank you!
- First Homework will come home on Sept. 12th
- Wish List: Spare headphones, Colored Pencils (we really just need the red, green, and yellow pencils)
Instruction and Learning
PBL (Project Based Learning): Global Water Crisis
Goal #1: I can write a paragraph with a main idea, details, and a closing.
Goal #2: As a researcher, I can use non-fiction text features (i.e. Table of Contents) to help me find important information. I can record the facts in note form and then use my notes to write a paragraph.
Learning: Students are researching the water cycle and are working on strategies for research as well as note taking. Next week, they will create a blog post about their knowledge of the water cycle.
ELA Individualized Learning (menu): We are getting into a routine with our menus! This is a daily (approx. 30-45 min.) time in which your child has a specific plan based on his/her needs in the area of reading. We will start sending menus home in a couple of weeks.
Current Goal: I can round three-digit numbers to the nearest hundreds place.
Review Goal: I can round two-digit and three-digit numbers to the nearest tens place.
Review Goal: I can add and subtract up to three-digit numbers, with and without regrouping.
